Veritas NetBackup is an enterprise level backup and recovery system. Symantec Veritas Software is currently fully implemented into the infrastructure of the IT/IM Data Center. It is used to provide data archiving, storage and recovery for all applications and databases hosted in the facility. Support is provided for numerous web, logistics, and financial application, including Navy ERP. This application is also used at the disaster recovery site at NAWCAD China Lake. The maintenance being purchased is for a product 7.2.4 currently owns. If we were to procure hardware with similar functionalities there would be a loss of current investments made for initial hardware and application purchase. Purchase of this maintenance will provide savings for hardware and software operations, training, and maintenance costs as we migrate to the NMCI environment.
