The award is intended for a follow-on contract to further analysis of the same production lot, in order to track vitamin degradation for the full five years that are expectedly needed for Mars missions. Specimen vitamin levels for years 3, 4 and 5 MUST be analyzed in precisely the same manner as the previous pulls in order to ensure consistency and comparability of data, since all vitamin loss results for the full five years will be incorporated into the same degradation-over-time kinetic model. Use of different facilities/techniques would disrupt the study by inserting a large degree of error into the time-course analysis.
