This is a sources sought synopsis only. This is NOT a request for proposals or quotes and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is conducting market research to seek sources able to provide Vitek®2 Gram negative bacterial identification cards (GN ID), Product Number 21341 and Gram positive bacterial identification cards (GP ID), Product Number 21342 to FSIS laboratories located in St. Louis, MO; Athens, GA; and Alameda, CA. The anticipated period of performance is for 1 year with four 1-year options. Attached to this notice is a copy of the anticipated Statement of Work for this requirement. Prospective offerors are requested to submit a Capability Statement to determine which companies possess the capability, experience and financial ability to perform this requirement as described in the attached Statement of Work. The Government is in no way obligated to do business with, or to enter into, any form of contract with any person, firm, or other entity that receives or responds to this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement. Information received in response to this notice will not be returned.

Responses to this notice are to include company name, address, business size, telephone number, e-mail address, and point of contact. For purposes of being considered a small business, the following applies: NAICS Code 325413, Size Standard 500 employees. The Government reserves the right to set-aside any subsequent acquisition based upon known sources and/or responses to this synopsis. Contractors that are a large business under this NAICS Code, may be required to submit a subcontracting plan in accordance with FAR 19.7. If your company is a large business, please address in your capability statement any small business opportunities for supplies/services for this requirement.

After the review of the responses to this sources sought announcement, and if the USDA, FSIS still plans to proceed with the acquisition, a solicitation announcement will be published. Responses to this sources sought are not automatic responses to any future solicitation announcements. All interested offerors will have to respond to the solicitation in addition to responding to this sources sought synopsis. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are NOT a request to be added to a prospective offerors list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
