The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head, Md. (NSWCIH) intends to award a Sole Source contract to Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI). The procurement consists of an Altix 350 system via Lease-to-Purchase firm fixed price contract. This requirement can only be satisfied by SGI because the Altix 350 is the only candidate system that can provide a 64 processor system, using a 64-bit Linux operating system, capable of at least a 32 processor single system image, and at least 32 processor shared memory capability. These features are mandatory in order to run existing scientific/engineering programs without modification and/or re-engineering. The applicable North American Industrial classification System (NIACS) code is 532420. The FSC code is W070. The resulting contract will be a firm fixed price contract.
