VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS), Palo Alto, CA., intends to lease equipment to provide sleep studies (Sleep Apnea) for VA patients. VAPAHCS intend to lease six (6) units of sleep study equipment. Period of Performance is January 01, 2005 through September 30, 2005 with the option to revew for two (2) one (1) year periods. 1. The equipment should have the ability to function as either a screener or a portable polysomnographic unit. As a portable device it should have the capability to record 8 channels of EEG, ECG and EMG in addition to eight channels of respiratory parameters. As a screening device the data can be collected and autoscored from the hand-held unit which has a printer port for report generation. In other words the report can be generated without using a computer. 2. The unit should automatically analyze the acquired data at the end of the measurement. Therefore, when the patient returns the device to us, the evaluation is already done. This evaluation should be able to be edited where the full disclosure data can be scored epoch by epoch. 3. It will need PCMCIA technology for sasving and fransferring measuring data. The standard memory card should provide a minimum capacity of 16MB. 4. The units should perform complete scoring and report generation software package with necessary support equipment to auto and/or manually score studies as well as generating reports. Equipment with several preset montages available and should allow user to adjust equipment to the demands of standard apnea screening, ploysomnography, CPAP therapy, etc. 5. Equipment should have sufficient storage capability for all graphs, curves, and reports. There should also be networking capability. 6. Equipment should be certified according to CE and ISO 9001. 7. Sensors should include; Durable thermistors for measuring oral and nasal flow with automatic gain adjustment. Internal or external microphone for reliable recording of snoring. Finger sensor for recording oxygen saturation and pulse rate. Evaluation via integrated pulse oximeter. Body position sensor for determining the sleep position. Activity sensor for the estimation of sleep efficiency. Light sensor for determining the relveant recording time. Pressure sensor for CPAP pressure during CPAP control or flow measurement in connection with an O2 nasal prong.
