The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences is conducting a sources sought synopsis to locate Small Businesses capable of providing a Water Phantom Scanning  System, and a System for Routine Verification of Fields for Linear Accelerators

Specifications:

1) The Water Phantom Scanning System must:
a) be capable of scanning high-energy photon (4-15 MV) and electron (6 - 18 MeV) fields from clinical linear accelerators in at least two directions;
b) have a scanning area in water of at least 450 mm x 300 mm (horizontal x vertical);
c) be able to perform fast (approximately 50 mm/sec), and slow scans (20 mm/sec or slower);
d) have a chamber position reproducibility of at least 0.1 mm;
e) comprise two water-proof micro ionization chambers with a volume not greater than 0.15 cm3 for relative measurements
f) comprise a Farmer-type water-proof ionization chamber with a volume approximately 0.5-0. 6 cm3 for absolute dosimetry measurements
g) allow for polarizing voltage range: at least -400 to + 400 V;
h) capable of measuring ionization current in the range at least 1 pA - 1 mA;
i) its software must be capable of data analysis according to the existing dosimetry protocols and compatible with the CMS treatment planning system. (Elekta AB)

2) The System for Routine Verification of Fields for Linear Accelerators must:
a) be capable of automatic daily linac startup verifications of radiation fields of clinical linear accelerators;
b) be based on an array of ionization chambers or diods;
c) provide results of verification immediately after the test irradiation is finished;
d) have the ability to work with photons in the 4 - 15 MV energy range and electrons in the 6 - 18 MeV energy range;
e) have an active area of at least 25 cm x 25 cm;
f) have at lease 400 sensors in the area;
g) take measurements with uncertainties not exceeding 1.5% of the measured values;
h) be capable of checking photon/electron energy;
i) be capable of performing Multi Leaf Collimator (MLC) checks.

BASIS FOR AWARD:

Award will be made to the responsible, technically acceptable quoter, whose quote, conforming to the combined Synopsis/Solicitation, offers the lowest evaluated price

The capability statements shall not be more than twenty-five (25) pages on 8.5 inch x 11 inch with 1 inch margins and a 12-point font size.
