The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Acquisition and Property Division (APD), Acquisition Branch (MD) intends to issue a sole-source purchase order to Illumina, Inc., 9885 Towne Centre Dr., San Diego, CA for the procurement of an array matrix product; two-thousand and thirty-two (2032),WG-35-101 iSelect Custom BeadChips with 60,800 bead types. This requirement is being sole sourced based on the following justification; The USDA Soybean Genomics and Improvement Laboratory owns an Illumina BeadStation system which can only scan Illumina BeadChips or array matrix products. The BeadChips must be compatible with existing USDA instrumentation. Illumina Inc. is the sole developer of the iSelect Custom BeadChip. The proposed action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit only one source. The solicitation number is AG-3K06-S-09-0013A. The applicable North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) is 334516 having 500 employees or less. The order shall be a firm-fixed price buy with an anticipated award date of June 12, 2009. Delivery terms for this requirement are FOB destination. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, all quotes received by the closing date will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this proposed buy based on responses of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
