The ARS Soybean Genomics and Improvement Laboratory has a Tecan robotic system that is designed for processing Illumina BeadChips such as the iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChip. The laboratory also has an instrument called the Illumina iScan. This instrument is a platform that generates high-throughput analyses of multiple biological samples (DNA) and is specifically designed to analyze Illumina iSelect HD BeadChips. The WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChip is considered a specialty item in the biotechnology industry and must be compatible with the aforementioned BeadStation system. Other manufacturer's products are not compatible, will not physically fit and are not able to process high-throughput SNP DNA marker analysis. The WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChips is in use in this laboratory. Thus, the additional analyses using the WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChip will provide SNP genetic marker data that will be compatible with data that we have previously obtained.
