The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC), Bovine Functional Genomics and Soybean Genomics and Improvement Laboratories (SGIL) intends to award a sole source, fixed price acquisition to Illumina Inc. located at 9885 Towne Centre Drive San Diego, CA 92121 to acquire WG-401-1004 infinium iSelectHD Custom Beadchips. Award is pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)-Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.

Requirement: SGIL owns an Illumina BeadStation System which can only scan Illumina Beadchips or arrary matrix products manufactured by Illumina. The BeadChips must be compatible with existing USDA instrumentation. Illumina Inc. is the sole developer of the iSelect Custom BeadChip.

The NAICS code is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees or less. Anticipated award date is on or about September 10, 2010. Delivery terms for this requirement are FOB destination. Any firms that are manufacturers or distributors of the noted product are invited to identify themselves as such when responding to this notice. All firms when responding are requested to identify its firm's size and type of business (e.g. small business, service disabled or HUBZone etc) and whether or not they are a manufacturer (as defined by FAR Subpart 19.102(f) or a dealer or distributor of these kinds of products. This procurement will be processed pursuant to FAR part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items.

THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. No solicitation will be issued and no telephone inquires will be accepted. However, all quotes received by the closing date will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this proposed buy based on responses of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
