The Wildwood Acid Mine Drainage Treatment plant is in Hampton Township, Allegheny County near the town of Gibsonia. The water treatment plant is treating an artesian flow acid mine drainage (AMD) deep mine discharge. The AMD water is treated with hydrogen peroxide to drop the iron out into the 50 feet wide, 300 feet long and 10 feet deep lagoon. The cleaning of the excessive iron sludge in the bottom of the lagoon will reduce the amount of iron discharging into Pine Creek, when the flows are high in the Spring time of the year.
