The purpose of this solicitation is to secure supply for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority¿s (WMATA) compressed natural gas (CNG) bus fleet in the form of biomethane or renewable natural gas (RNG) derived from non-fossil sources such as landfills, wastewater treatment plants and/or dairy digesters. WMATA seeks Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) compliant RNG matched to its needs. WMATA wishes to engage an RNG supplier who will: a) Purchase WMATA¿s existing CNG supply. b) Sell RNG to WMATA to create Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) Program. c) Provide a portion of the net revenue earned from the sale of the RINs created to WMATA.
