National Security Technologies, LLC (NSTec) in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), is tasked with a mission to the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) of the Department of Energy (DOE) that requires the maintenance and operation of the U3C and X8A beamlines (http://www.bnl.gov/u3cx8a/) at the NSLS in BNL located in Upton, NY.  A principal research team (PRT), composed of representatives from these national labs and NSTec uses these beamlines to conduct calibrations and physics experiments that are critical to the success of the NNSA Science Campaign and Counter-proliferation activities.

The NSLS in BNL, is a national user research facility funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Basic Energy Science. The NSLS operates two electron storage rings: an X-Ray ring and a Vacuum UltraViolet (VUV) ring which provide intense light spanning the electromagnetic spectrum from the infrared through x-rays. Each year over 2300 scientists from universities, industries and government labs perform research at the NSLS.
