PROJECT LOCATION: The Yesler Way Over 4th Ave S Bridge is located within one national historic district and two local historic districts in the south downtown area of Seattle at the intersections of Yesler Way, Terrace St and 4th Ave S. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project will: demolish and replace the existing three span steel superstructure with a new single span steel superstructure including abatement of hazardous lead based coatings on all steel materials; replace the west abutment wall and rehabilitate the east abutment wall; refurbish the north and south fascia girders; refurbish the bridge pedestrian railings; reconstruct the northwest staircase and Yesler Way retaining wall; replace the existing 12” watermain with a new 12” watermain attached to the bridge; and reconstruct the Yesler Way and Terrace Street utilities and roadways in the vicinity of the bridge. Key character defining features of the bridge have been identified and will be refurbished and preserved due to their historical significance.
