The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment as needed to replace roof on the historic Spaletta Dairy Barn (approx 52 SQ) at Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, CA. Work will include the removal and disposal of existing wood shingles and metal ridge cap. After approximately one month of substrate repairs by National Park Service (NPS) personnel, install new cedar shingles with copper flashing. Install new copper step flashing at dormer side walls, and valley flashing where gable roof intersects main roof. Install NPS supplied ridge boards. This work entails one half of the roof of this structure, plus the top 4-5 courses on the other side (these were left off intentionally to do repairs), and will conclude the roofing project upon completion of this work. The site is located half way between the town of Inverness and the Point Reyes Lighthouse, approximately 30 minutes from park headquarters. This proposed project will include option items to reroof other historic and non-historic structures (approx 25 SQ total) located within the park. The project range is estimated between $25K-$100K. Work on the barn will start on June 7, 2004 and must be completed by August 13, 2004. Award selection will be based on a best value determination after considering cost and factors other than cost, such as the contractor's experience installing cedar shingle roofing on buildings listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
